This magnificent white-sand beach fronting Bolinas Bay offers a small taste of the Southern California beach scene. Conditions often permit swimming at Stinson Beach, though the water is cold and lifeguards are on duty usually only in summer
from late May to mid-September. The curving 3-mile beach stretches from the
mouth of Bolinas Lagoon in the north to the secluded bluffs of Rocky Point on
the south. Beachcombing is excellent at
the north end of the beach and beyond, especially during low tides. Since the weather here is often different from everywhere else in the Bay Area, it is wise to call and check conditions before setting out ((415) 868-1922). The Siren
Canteen and Café snack bar operates under the lifeguard tower. A word of caution: the waters off this stretch of coast known as the Red Triangle have suffered more shark attacks than anywhere else in the world.
