Personally, I think the baristas here at Philz Coffee can be a tad too cheery. They spoil what could be a cooler, more unfriendly, beatnik-style ambiance. Sitting outside on the sidewalk is pleasant, but if you’re here to work or surf, upstairs is quieter (though it is seemingly impossible to ever find an empty seat there). The mostly liquid menu includes an array of coffees (I favor the yummy mint mojito iced version), a heavy hot chocolate, and some pastries and a good baklava.
