Located action central, just steps from the Mammoth
Resort shopping complex and the gondola that goes to Canyon Lodge (where guests
can access the entire mountain), this contemporary-style mountain lodge features
privately owned condo units. The
spacious lobby of The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth is atmospherically decorated with granite-tiled floors,
comfortable chairs, and even a coffee table made from a tree stump, and it
easily accommodates guests and their sports equipment.

Guest room condos come in 36 different
configurations. Westin’s trademark Heavenly
beds are double-sheeted in white cotton, and comfortably covered with both a light
and a heavy duvet. The simple decor is in
tasteful muted colors and includes pleasant art. All units have a fully furnished front room
and kitchen, and most also have a balcony and two large TVs. A large swimming pool and two hot tubs that
are heated year-round are positioned on a stunning second-floor deck with a
lovely mountain/tree view and plenty of posh deck chairs. For ages 4 to 12, The Westin Kids Club®
operates year-round. Special winter amenities
include in-resort ski and snowboard rentals, lift ticket and lesson bookings,

Whitebark
(760) 934-0460. B-L-D daily; $$$. Situated just off the lobby, the nicely
decorated Whitebark restaurant has a warming fireplace and features a sushi bar. Service is good, TVs are at the bar, and good
views of the woodsy surrounds are an additional treat.
