Here since 1996, this relatively large corner grocery specializes in Mexican and South American cooking ingredients but carries plenty of other items as well.  A wildly colorful mural decorates the outside wall of Mi Tierra Foods on the south side.  You’ll find a large variety of dried chili peppers, tortillas, and hot sauces, not to mention pinatas and palatas.  In addition, a carniceria prepares meats and cuts to order, and a panaderia cabinet displays colorful Mexican sweets.  You’ll also find those chewy, large Amazon corn kernels, huarache and sope bases, and in the deli--fresh tamales.  A small cafe adjoins.

Way more things to do in Berkeley.

More ideas for exploring Northern California.
