Yreka; Introduction to Yreka + Siskiyou County Museum + West Miner Street Historic District; things to do

 5 north

Introduction to Yreka

Located approximately 50 miles north of Mount Shasta, and 22 miles south of the Oregon border, the small town of Yreka is positioned halfway between San Francisco and Portland, Oregon.  Allow time here to visit the town museum and historic district, and perhaps to grab a quite bite to eat.

Siskiyou County Museum

910 S. Main St.
This small museum emphasizes local artifacts and history.  Of special interest is the occasional exhibit featuring a local pioneer family, one of which was the Terwilligers.

A 2¼-acre Outdoor Museum is located adjacent.  Among its original and replica historic buildings are a schoolhouse, a Catholic church, a blacksmith shop, a miner's cabin, and an operating general store.
