brick-wall interior of Anchalee Thai Cuisine in Berkeley, California |
Featuring a high ceiling and natural red brick walls, atmospheric
Anchalee Thai Cuisine roars when all the seats are full. When fewer people show up, it can be cozy and intimate. Service is always polite and prompt. Though lunch specials are enticing, they don’t include extras. Among my favorites, Gai Yang Somtum is flattened grilled skinless chicken served with papaya salad, sticky rice, and a delicious plum sauce. Also very good is Kao Ob Mor Din, a flavorful combination of rice with prawns and chicken baked in a clay pot. Next time I plan to try one of the noodle dishes and a curry. An extensive vegetarian menu is also available.
