This modest purple-painted spot sits atop stilts at the front of a motel parking lot. It reminds me of places I’ve seen in rural Thailand that are up on stilts to keep from getting flooded by river or ocean waters. Though the interior decor at Sa Wooei Thai is not well curated, it is cozy and I especially like that most of the tables are window-side and permit looking out. Best of all, prices are low. Lunch rice plates run $6.95, while dinner entrees run $8.95 and up. The flavorful tom kha gai coconut soup includes a variety of mushrooms and makes a good starter. Lunch specials are a very good deal and start with a simple vegetarian cabbage soup. I definitely enjoyed the pad ma kuer dish with eggplant, chilies, and chicken. My dining companion ordered the red curry of the day, which was flavored nicely with coconut. All dishes can be prepared vegetarian.
