Founded in the early 1900s and California’s first certified dairy, the old-time drive-thru Meadowlark Dairy has modernized into a drive-thru convenience store dispensing all the makings for a picnic: bread, cheese, chips and dip, cold drinks. Newspapers, milk and dairy products, and dry ice are also available, but the reason most cars come here is to get a cone’s worth of the spectacular soft-serve ice cream to go! Personally, I like the orange flavor best, and I like it in a cup, but I could tell my ice cream had been held in a refrigerator for awhile because it was a tad hard on the outside. It didn’t have that lucious softness that you expect from a frosty, but was still very good. Pedestrian customers can walk in to the store or walk up to a kiosk for a cone outside, but drive-thru is where the fun is at.
